02Q & A

What Cocode Nut solves

  • No API key setup

Sign into Cocode to call models — no applying for, storing, or rotating keys, and no per-device reconfiguration.

  • One balance, two entry points

Desktop workspace and terminal share the same balance. Usage settles from one place regardless of where you work.

  • Spend is visible

Usage and billing live in Billing Center — upgrade, cancel, and update payment methods in one place.

03FAQ

Worth asking before you subscribe

What is Cocode Nut?

Cocode Nut is Cocode’s model service (MaaS). Subscribe monthly for DeepSeek usage credits and use them in the desktop workspace and terminal — no API key required.

Which models does Cocode Nut include?

DeepSeek V4 Pro and DeepSeek V4 Flash. Free tier is limited to Flash; paid tiers can call both within credit limits. Monthly, 5-hour, and weekly rolling limits are shown in the plan table and update with backend config. More models may be added over time.

Is data retained or used for training?

They are not used for model training or sold to third parties. To complete calls, billing, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting, we retain necessary metering and request metadata; the usage page shows metering fields only and does not store prompt content. Retention periods, processing regions, and exceptions can differ by model provider, so check the privacy note for the model you use.

How do free and paid tiers differ?

Free tier is for short trials, not production: compute when servers are idle, no stability guarantee, Flash only, lower credits, concurrency, and speed — with possible throttling at peak. Paid tiers use Pro and Flash within credits, with call priority and higher limits across 5-hour, weekly, and monthly rolling windows.

How much does Cocode Nut cost?

See the plan table — USD monthly via Stripe checkout; tax may apply. Free tier needs no payment to start.

Why are Cocode Nut plans priced low?

We run models on our own large B300 cluster without third-party resale, so infrastructure cost stays lower and more value goes to users.

Do unused credits roll over? What happens when credits run out?

No rollover. Credits are granted by billing cycle and expire at period end. Paid tiers also have parallel 5-hour and weekly caps; hitting any window blocks calls until it rolls. Each request reserves credits upfront — insufficient balance rejects the call; no execute-then-charge. If you enable auto-recharge, a saved payment method tops up the configured amount when balance falls below your threshold, subject to the cycle cap.

Can I upgrade or cancel anytime?

Yes. Switch plans or cancel renewal in Billing Center. An upgrade submits payment and waits for Stripe and backend confirmation; any prorated added credits expire with the current cycle. Downgrades and cancellations apply at period end, and remaining credits stay usable until then. The checkout and Billing Center confirmation are authoritative for the final amount and status.

Can I still use my own API key?

Yes. Cocode supports fully local runs with your own API key; those calls are billed and handled by the model provider under its own rules and do not consume Cocode Nut credits. Nut is the hosted subscription option with no upstream key to apply for or rotate.

How do I manage payment methods and invoices?

Subscriptions run through Stripe. From Billing Center, open Stripe Billing Portal to update payment methods, view history, and download invoices.

Can I top up credits separately?

Nut credits are granted by plan and billing cycle; they are not an unlimited wallet by default. If you want to avoid an interruption when credits run low, enable auto-recharge in Billing Center and set a threshold, top-up amount, and cycle cap. Without auto-recharge, calls that do not have enough available credit are rejected.

Can I use Nut in other coding agents, IDEs, or my own scripts?

Yes. Create an OpenAI-compatible personal API key in Account to use Nut from supported terminal tools, desktop clients, and your own scripts. These calls use the same Nut account credits and remain subject to the plan’s model permissions and rolling limits. Use the integration instructions for the current endpoint and model names.

What is the difference between Nut and using my own API key?

Nut is a hosted monthly subscription: no upstream key application or rotation, usage settles against plan credits, and 5-hour, weekly, and monthly limits apply. With your own API key, you connect directly to that provider; its pricing, models, rate limits, and data policy apply, and the calls do not consume Nut credits.
